Those scores are awful and worse than I thought they would be. What a shame. How did MCPS keep these scores from parents for so long? Durso better get his survey together quick!!!!!
I think the worst part is letting the parents blame the kids for not studying, not paying attention, etc. Indeed, my son failed his first semester Honors Algebra 2 exam. Teachers rubber stamp "A" for all homework completed, so kids manage to pass the course and parents are placated. No one raises any alarms, teachers don't recommend extra study or tutoring. Teachers are silent on these failing grades. That part I do not understand. Have the MCPS students ever really learned math concepts, from basics on up through Algebra 1, Geometry, Algebra 2? We have no way of knowing what the students have learned because the testing has failed us completely, leaving us all wondering if it is a failure of teaching or the test itself.
