The Washington Post: Montgomery considers multiple factors in math exam failure rates

  1. “Exam preparers’ teaching venue” is a factor that should not be overlooked. Years ago my kid’s teacher identified himself as having co-authored the Countywide final exam that the class would be taking. It was among his statements at Back-to-School Night to assure parents that these students would perform as well as their counterparts at more affluent County high schools. In light of the news about final exam failure rates I’m now wondering: Was he referencing test scores and rankings among high schools or was he suggesting that certain schools have an edge because their teachers prepare the Countywide final exams?
