Users of your neighborhood elementary, middle and high school can now get a one day liquor license for their events.
This legislation was supported unanimously by the Montgomery County Delegation.
Did anyone let the neighbors of school sites know what was in the works?
This way they don't have to commute all way to Annapolis in order to attend cocktail parties.
ReplyDeleteSounds legitimate. Perhaps this is just for special events (class reunions, etc.)
ReplyDeleteWhat does "legitimate" mean? It's events at your local elementary school that now can serve alcohol. That's PTA's and other groups that rent out local schools for events. It means watching out for drunk drivers coming out of your local school and it means alcohol in public school space.
DeleteWhen people move next to a school they think it is a public school, not a bar. That has now changed in Montgomery County.
Not to be confused with The Montgomery County Bar.
DeleteActually, the bill codifies current practice, so this has been happening for quite some time. http://mgaleg.maryland.gov/2015RS/fnotes/bil_0003/hb0093.pdf
ReplyDeleteActually, no. This has not been happening for quite some time.
DeleteNo doubt the alcohol content is aggressively monitored by the MC Department of Liquor Control.
ReplyDeleteWell, there's one way to increase attendance at PTA meetings.
ReplyDeleteIt can double up as a AA retreat.
DeleteJust what this world needs, more tipsy soccer moms.
