Natali Fani-Gonzalez attempts to deflect tax cheating claim

Our recent story about former Planning Board commissioner and County Council candidate Natali Fani-Gonzalez's improperly obtained property tax exemption (about $22,000 total so far) has now spurred Mrs. Fani-Gonzalez to issue several defensive tweets.

Mrs. Fani-Gonzalez does not, however, address the ill-gotten 100% tax exemption obtained through a false claim of 100% military disability.  Instead, she is trying to deflect the claims by emphasizing her husband's military service.

While Mr. Gonzalez's service to his country is admirable, it does not entitle the couple to illegally take advantage of a tax benefit that is reserved only for 100% disabled veterans.

If the exemption is deserved, then the couple should be able to produce the Veterans Administration and SDAT paperwork that shows that Mr. Gonzalez qualified for 100% disability status during the years that they have been exempted from payment of property taxes, 2017 through 2022.

  1. Still no apology for being ableist AF? Hope you never experience life with a disability.

    1. Done. Already experienced life with multiple severely disabled family members. This post isn't about disability, it's about property taxes. Try reading the documents that are linked.

    2. What if he has PTSD? That is a disability that you can’t always see at the surface level. I am guessing that HIPAA rules will prevent anyone other than his family and his doctor from knowing the truth.

    3. Then the person can't apply for a waiver of Maryland Property Taxes, can they? This post is about a waiver of Property Taxes. It's not about medical records. Either the Property Taxes can be waived, or they can't. It's one or the other.

    4. IDK, does the waiver preclude people with PTSD severe enough to keep them from holding a job from getting this exemption? I don’t know the rules/requirements.

    5. This post is about an exemption from paying Maryland Property Taxes.

  2. The court document already makes it clear that Mr. Gonzalez has no psychological issues that increase his disability rating. He has thrown everything he can at the court -- and he lost.

Another question is why is he even appealing if he is already 100% disabled, as he claimed in his sdat exemption application?
