Under Maryland law the public is to have 3 weeks to review the names of applicants for Montgomery County Planning Board positions. But the Montgomery County Council doesn't want to follow that law and is giving the public just a few days to review the list of applicants. Therefore, it's imperative that the names of applicants be released IMMEDIATELY to allow the public to review the names.
TO DO TODAY: The Montgomery County Council has set October 18, 2022, at 5 PM as the deadline to apply for a "temporary/acting/caretaker" Planning Board position.
At 5 PM today send an e-mail to the following addresses:
county.council@montgomerycountymd.gov
Christine.Wellons@montgomerycountymd.gov
Request that under the Maryland Public Information Act the County Council immediately provides you with the list of the applicants for the Planning Board positions.
The County Council isn't going to give the public the 3 weeks we are entitled to by law, so every second counts between now and when the Council votes on these "temporary/acting/caretaker" appointments.
Montgomery County(a)(1) In Montgomery County, the County Council shall make an appointment to the Commission from a list of applicants.(2) The list shall be:(i) completed at least 3 weeks before an appointment is made; and(ii) made available to the public.
