Silver Chips: MCPS forms curriculum agreement with Pearson
...The partnership formed after a conversation between county superintendent Jerry Weast and spokespeople from Pearson...
...“There’s almost no risk for MCPS in this deal,” he said. Because of the agreement between MCPS and Pearson, Tofig added that the plan even has monetary pluses.“It ultimately could benefit us financially,” he said.
That is correct, there is no risk to MCPS. However it should be clear there is risk to Montgomery County and its taxpayers and citizens, as well as state and federal taxpayers that support the MCPS entity financially with billions of dollars each year. MCPS is a separate entity, don't forget. It has no obligations to Montgomery County government and the county taxpayers.
