Despite having a Board policy that new business should "lie on the table" until the next Board meeting, the MCPS Board of Education voted today to turn over MCPS staff, curriculum, mark and logo to a private textbook company. This partnership was not based on bids from various textbook companies. Please note that with a unanimous vote the Board can bypass their policy that requires new business to lie on the table until the next meeting. No such vote was taken.
In Favor:
Hwang (student)
Kauffman
Docca
Barclay
O'Neill
Brandman
Opposed:
Durso
Berthiaume
Perhaps the "C" in MPCS now stands for "corruption". What kind of citizen-based governance is this?
ReplyDeleteAnonymous, This is 'good governance' Montgomery County style. Get involved and we can change this county into a democracy yet, even though in District 4 only 7 percent of the people there voted in the last election (for their representative to Congress in 2008). I am pretty sure by anyone's definition of 'democracy,' this isn't it. So, Anonymous, what kind of citizen-based governance is it, do YOU think? It is what YOU make it. time to fix it. Look around. YOU are the citizens.
