Leventhal, Berliner on Raising Taxes
Leventhal: "Real answer is to attract jobs and investment." Leventhal said that if we raise tax rates, we harm the long term goal of being competitive, and able to attract jobs and investment. "Our taxes are already too high." "I don't think we can afford a substantial increase in the tax burden we're already bearing."
Berliner: The county executive has made it clear he is not going to be proposing any increase in county property taxes. "I don't believe there's any appetite on the council this year to raise taxes."
