Faulty water filters may have caused a student and the school nurse to fall ill Tuesday at Seneca Valley High School in Germantown.
Water fountains at the school remain dry after the two reported having stomach aches and began vomiting about 15 to 20 minutes after drinking from the fountain, said the school's Principal Marc Cohen....
...Seneca Valley is the only high school in MCPS that uses filters on its drinking fountains, according to Gallagher.
They were installed in 2000, after a high concentration of lead was found in the school's water supply due to old pipes.
The water's lead concentration continues to be a concern of parent leaders, according to testimony from a parent group that represents seven Germantown schools.
