Eighteen people applied for the District 3 seat for the Montgomery County Board of Education, which had been held for many years by the late Pat O'Neill. Laurie Halverson is the only applicant who told the public she had applied for the seat. The other 17 applicants prefer to remain secret.
Why would an application for a public office be secret? What sort of Stat Chamber nonsense is this? If you wish to be secret, you wish not to hold the office. I know that democratic norms of government are slipping...but!?
