Gazette: Rock Creek Hills takes stand against Montgomery County school board

Citizens’ association files complaint with state Open Meetings Compliance Board

Residents closest to the park selected by the Montgomery County school board as the preferred site for a middle school are ramping up efforts to halt the process they have described as an abuse of authority, a betrayal of parents who support schools and a blatant disregard for the community most affected by the decision.
The Rock Creek Hills Citizens’ Association emerged as the driving force of opposition after the school board voted in a last-minute change April 28 to tap Rock Creek Hills Park as the preferred site for a new middle school. The group makes its opinion clear by blasting school officials at board meetings, appealing the decision with the state board of education and most recently filing a complaint against the county school board with the Maryland Open Meetings Compliance Board...
